Friday Night Cooking Classes for Couples

What could be more fun than cooking with that special person in your life! Enjoy delicious food and great conversation while learning the cooking secrets of our talented and soon-to-be famous chefs.

  • HOW LONG ARE THE CLASSES? Classes are approximately 3 hours long.
  • HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THE CLASS? The classes are limited to 7 couples.
  • DOES THE CLASS INCLUDE A MEAL? Classes include a minimum of 3 recipes and do constitute a complete meal.
  • ARE BEVERAGES INCLUDED? Wine and beer are available for purchase
  • ARE THESE CLASSES INTERACTIVE? Yes, our classes are interactive and "hands-on", coupled with the chef offering personal experiences and many tips and tricks throughout the evening. Up to 6 people at a time, work together as a group, with the chef instructing. We focus on knife skills, preparing ingredients for cooking, tasting/seasoning, and we strive to find every opportunity to offer you a hands-on experience at the stove and at your station, all within the spacial parameters of a single stove/family-style kitchen.

Our Couples Cooking Classes are limited to seven couples, so that everyone has a chance to join in and interact with the chef. It is fun, educational, and always an experience to be remembered. Take home tips, recipes and discover a new confidence in the kitchen.

ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD

Our House Chef Chef Gaetano Pugliese has put together these classic winter recipes that will be easy to recreate at home. Learn the tips and tips and tricks he learned from working in Italy and at his Nona's stove in Windsor.

Italian Wedding Soup - this is a delicious winter soup full of hearty ingredients; carrots, celery, orzo, spinach, chick peas and delightful little meatballs that can be on the table in 30 minutes!

Ravioli stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta Cheese – we will be making the pasta from scratch and rolling it out using a stand mixer attachment. Your chef instructor will show you how to stuff the ravioli with the rich spinach and ricotta mixture and we will serve it with a quick and easy tomato & basil sauce.

Deconstructed Tiramisu - this classic dessert typically takes several hours to prepare from start to finish. We will teach you how to prepare this in under an hour, while still producing the same marvelous flavours


STREET FOOD OF THE FAR EAST

CLASSIC MEETS MODERN FRENCH CUISINE

We have designed a great modern French class incorporating recipes from some of today's great French chefs. Your Chef Instructor will provide you with plenty of tips and tricks that are used in the best restaurants

  • Classic French Onion Soup – a quick version of this classic winter soup.
  • Braised Chicken with Bacon, Onions, Green Olives and Carrots – braising is a classic technique that transforms simple proteins into wonderful comfort food. This recipe from Chef Daniel Boulud, can be made in under 90 minutes and our talented chef will walk you through all the steps.
  • Crepes Suzette - Chef Jaques Pepin's recipe for this classic dessert is quick and easy. It is so decadent you will be making it for your friends sooner than later.

Chef Gaetano began cooking with his Nona at an early age and he will share his secrets with you throughout the evening. The class will be preparing a very fresh insalata, classic Italian fish stew and an easy to recreate Tiramisu for dessert.

  • Insalata - Bocconcini cheese with roasted eggplant, fresh cherry tomato salsa, basil and balsamic reduction

Payment and cancellation policy:

All students must recognize the Payment and Cancellation Policy prior to registering for any Cooking Class.

All cooking classes are non-refundable and must be paid for when booked.

HST will be applied to all cooking classes.

More than 7 days’ notice to The Chef Upstairs by email or phone: No refunds. Students will be eligible to reschedule to future class.

Less than 7 days’ notice to The Chef Upstairs: No refunds or rescheduling will be allowed.

No Notice : Where a student fails to inform The Chef Upstairs or fails to attend registered class – NO Rescheduled Class will be issued.

Gift Certificate Use: Where a student intends to use a gift certificate and is unable to attend a class, the above Cancellation policy is in effect. All Gift certificates will be debited or voided as applicable.
