Finishing high school or just started college or university? Just moved out on your own?

This crash course for those in grade 11 and up is designed to make you more proficient, confident, efficient and independent when it comes to food!

We will be discussing and practicing key factors to being a master of the kitchen such as meal planning, grocery shopping, basic kitchen equipment needs, and food-handling, sanitation and hygiene.

We will be creating delicious meals focusing on simplicity, flavour, nutritional needs, and cost-efficiency, which will be enjoyed together at the end of each class.

Each class will run from 6-8 p.m., plus time to eat and socialize!

$65 per class or $300 for the 5 week session (plus HST)

Tuesday October 19 - Knife Skills 101 / Let’s Make Lunch!

  • Garden Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
  • Ultimate BLT Sandwiches (Turkey and tempeh bacon available)
  • Fruit Salad

Tuesday October 26 - Simple Breakfast Classics

  • Poached, Sunny-Side, or Fried-Over-Hard (and everything in between)
  • Omelets (Choose your own Ingredients)
  • Maple Black Pepper Bacon/Turkey Bacon
  • Breakfast Potatoes
  • Cheesy Toast

Tuesday November 2 - Feeling Snacky (Easy, Quick, and Healthy Snacks)

  • Energy Balls (Healthy, energizing, and freezable)
  • Tzatziki and Crudité
  • Stove-Top Popcorn

Tuesday November 9 - Soup: Enjoy It, Share It, Freeze It

  • Minestrone (Hearty Italian Vegetable Soup)
  • Broccoli, Beer and Cheddar Soup
  • Chicken Noodle

Tuesday November 16 - Home-Cooked Family-Style Dinner

  • Dry-Rubbed Whole Roasted Chicken
  • Buttery, Garlicy Mashed Potatoes
  • Maple-Glazed Carrots
  • Sesame Roasted Brussels Sprouts
