Virtual - Private Cooking Class - Ste. Jean Baptiste Day

Held annually on 24 June, the Fête nationale du Québec (formerly known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day) has been a statutory holiday in Québec since 1925. Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day has been celebrated in North America since the early days of New France. Originally a religious celebration, it took a more patriotic turn in 1834 with Ludger Duvernay. The first Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day parade took place in Montréal in 1843. Since 1984, the Mouvement national des Québécoises et Québécois (MNQ) has organized the festivities of the Fête nationale du Québec. Various francophone communities across Canada also celebrate Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.

What's Cooking? To celebrate we will be making the following traditional Quebecois dishes;

• Salade vert avec croutons
• Tortiere (French meat pie) 
• Authentic Poutine

 What to Expect:

• Connect with fellow foodies and school friends!
• Learn new tips and tricks 
• Hone your knife skills
• Class will start at 2 p.m. and will last about 2.5 hours (log in at 1:30 p.m.)
• The class consists of a full meal, prepared by you in your own home under the guidance of our chef, via Zoom

How to Connect:

1. Register for the class
2. Ensure you have the Zoom app downloaded on a computer or mobile device (we suggest using a laptop for the best experience)
3. Shortly after registration, we will send you an ingredient and kitchen tools list, as well as set up that will be needed for the class
4. Half an hour before the class, you will have access to the Zoom class.  Take that time to sign-in, connect with your fellow foodies and make sure you are ready to go
